Youth Art Classes

All classes are at CAL, 207 S. Ninth Street, Columbia, in the studio classroom unless otherwise noted.

Preschool Ages 3-5:

Preschool Program

This class introduces little ones to a variety of art materials through hands-on learning. Discovery and creative play encourages the development of motor skills and group social skills.

2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month
10:30 - 11:30am

After School Art for K-5

Designed to be a unique time for students K-5 to experience art at their own pace, this program incorporates hands-on art projects in a variety of media.

Tuesdays, 4 - 5:30 pm
    September 8, 15, 22, and 29

Wednesdays, 4 - 5:30 pm
    October 7, 14, 21, and 28
    November 4, 11, and 18

CAL High School Art Institute

CAL High School Art Institute is designed for the artist with foundational understanding of drawing and painting. Instruction will be focused around the techniques of oil painting and figure drawing with the goal of giving aspiring young artists a place to expand their skills and develop their artistic voice.

CAL Art Enrichment for Teens Program

Designed for the young artist who has the desire to learn the basics about drawing and painting. Instruction will be focused around the techniques of working with drawing and painting media, and the use of composition and color.

CAL Creative Fun Days

This class meets when schools are not in session. It is designed to be a fun time for students K-5 to experience art in a variety of media.

Friday, November 13, 2009, 9 am - 5 pm

Fine Art Classes for Grades K-8 (Homeschool)

Perfect for the homeschool family, these classes provide a formal approach to art education. Students meet weekly to learn to work in a variety of media, explore art history and apply those understandings to their own world. For more information, please email the Director of Education at calarted@centurytel.net.

Classes meet on Wednesdays.
Fall 2009 Classes begin August 26 and run through December 16.

No Home School class November 25; Thanksgiving Holiday.

Spring 2010 Classes begin January 6 and run through April 28.
